How to connect to your Windows RDP server

Sep 12, 2026 · 3 min read

After your Windows VPS is delivered you receive an IP address, a username (usually Administrator) and a password by email.

From Windows

  1. Press Win + R, type mstsc and press Enter.
  2. Enter the server IP, click Connect.
  3. Enter the username and password and accept the certificate prompt.

From macOS

Install Windows App (formerly Microsoft Remote Desktop) from the App Store, add a PC with the server IP and your credentials.

From Linux

Use Remmina, or the command line: xfreerdp /v:SERVER_IP /u:Administrator.

Phones and tablets

Use the Microsoft Remote Desktop / Windows App app on Android or iOS.

After your first login

  • Change the administrator password immediately.
  • Install Windows updates.
  • Consider limiting RDP access to known IP addresses with the Windows firewall.

Can't connect? Check that the IP is correct, port 3389 is not blocked by your local network, and contact support if it still fails.
